The multifaceted, Montreal-born Canadian soprano Jennifer Maines, has sung in world-renowned opera houses and orchestras in Canada, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Austria. From 2003 to 2016 she was a member of the Tirolean State Theater Innsbruck, where she sang more than 65 roles. Her impressive repertoire of opera roles include Ellen Orford, The Duchess (Powder Her Face), Salome, Senta (Der Fliegende Holländer), Maddalena (Andrea Chenier), Tosca, Minnie (La Fanciulla der West), Cassandre (Les Troyens), Manon Lescaut, Jenufa, Ortrud (Lohengrin), Wally, Marietta (Die Tote Stadt), Fidelio, Venus (Tannhäuser), Turandot, and Chimène in Massenet’s seldom performed French epic opera Le Cid. For her intense and successful interpretation of Kundry in Wagner’s Parsifal, Ms. Maines won the prestigious ‘Golden Schikaneder’ in the 2015 Austrian Music Theater Prize in Vienna, in the category of ‘Best Leading Lady’. Also a natural on the musical theatre stage, Ms. Maines has enjoyed critical acclaim singing Anna Leonowens (The King and I), Fantine (Les Miserables), Aldonza (The Man from la Mancha) and Nancy (Oliver).


At the beginning of 2017, Ms. Maines made her triumphant return to Canadian stages with standing ovations for her New Year’s Concert with the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. Jennifer Maines looks forward to two further role debuts in the 2017/18 season: The Secretary in Menotti’s The Consul, and Adriano in Wagner’s Rienzi.
