Soprano

"As Fiordiligi, Charlotte Corwin revealed that rarity, a real Mozart voice, clearly focused and of a purity that recalled such memorable Mozarteans as Teresa Stich-Randall."

BIO
Lyric soprano Charlotte Corwin is one of Canada's most exciting young singers, quickly establishing herself as an accomplished performer of both opera and concert repertoire. Charlotte added Konstanze to her growing range of roles, with Edmonton Opera in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail in 2011.
A member of the elite Atelier Lyrique de L'Opéra de Montréal from 2005 to 2008, Miss Corwin performed the roles of Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Asphodèle (Chabrier's L' Étoile), The Governess (Britten's Turn of the Screw), and Flaminia in Haydn's Il mondo della luna. Charlotte debuted as Juliette in the 2007 production of Romeo et Juliette with L'Opera de Québec.
On the concert stage, Miss Corwin has sung with many of Quebec's leading orchestras and choral groups, including Les Violons du Roi (Chantons Noël), Choeur St-Laurent Petite Messe de Sollennelle) and I Medici di McGill (Nuits d'Été, Berlioz).
As Flaminia in Haydn’s Il mondo della luna with Opera in Concert in January 2009, Geoff Chapman noted in Opera Canada: "lyric soprano Charlotte Corwin [was] compelling with secure intonation, comfortable coloratura and beguiling charm." As winner of the Joseph Rouleau Award "Best Artist from Quebec" in the Montreal International Music Competition, Charlotte presented a recital at St. John's, Smith Square, in London, England.
Recent highlights for Charlotte include Belinda in Opera Erratica's innovative 2009 production of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Lord Nelson Mass/Salve Regina (Haydn) with Aradia Ensemble, Cleopatra with Opera In Concert (Handel's Giulio Cesare), Gilda in Opera York's Rigoletto, and her debut as Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte) with Pacific Opera Victoria.
A gifted recitalist, Miss Corwin began 2010 in Repentigny Quebec, presenting a recital for L'Association pour l'avancement de la Musique, followed by a concert for the Mozart Society of Toronto. The Ottawa Choral Society presented Charlotte as soloist in Larysa Kuzmenko’s “Dreams” in 2011 as a winner in their New Discoveries Competition.
Charlotte looks forward to her debut in 2012 as Musetta in a concert version of Puccini’s La Bohème with Kingston Symphony Orchestra and returns to Montreal’s Choeur St-Laurent for Mozart’s sublime Mass in C Minor.
Charlotte Corwin has dual Canadian and U.S. Citizenship.
